A cloudy sky, some rain and blustery wind didn’t keep people away from Naturewise Community Forest Garden open day on 23rd July. We welcomed 125 people over the bridge to our beautiful 5 acre garden.
Yet again an excellent core team of around 20 committed and wonderful volunteers, made sure the day ran smoothly.
We also had brilliant contributors to the programme, which drew people’s curiosity, imagination and involvement. Quite a few contributors focused on expression and creativity which can be empowering, connecting and important for our wellbeing as a community.
Maggie Nicols ran a taster session for us in open, sound improvisation. She is an international performer who runs ‘The Gathering’ locally in Drefach Felindre. You can find her on face book or phone 01559 370081 to find out more.
Mike created wonderful rhythms on drums with a small group towards the end of the day.
Sarah ran a very lively brief introduction to nonviolent communication, a technique created by Marshall Rosenberg. This technique can help us to understand our feelings and needs and find ways we can empower ourselves to create more of what we need for a more satisfying life. It is also a great tool in addressing issues in our relationships. People were interested to join her sessions which run twice a month near Cardigan.
Some beautiful things were made with Kelly using natural pigments to paint small pictures woven into a willow frame.
You can find Kelly on facebook at
Susan helped people do instant flower and leaf pressing, literally transferring the colours and shapes onto fabric by hitting the plants. The effect was lovely. Susan runs workshops in Cilgerran. Follow her on face book to find out courses she puts on locally in natural dyeing.
All our programme people put on events , workshops or can be asked to run workshops. Thank you to everyone who gave their time however big or small. How great that together we can pull our recourses, energy and skills and make something so worthwhile.
