Claire Turner
I am co-director and co-founder of the Naturewise Community Forest Garden.
I have been involved with caring for and initiating community forest gardens since meeting Alpay in 2003. I met him in the first Naturewise Forest garden, that was created in an inner- city. I wanted to return to Wales as my roots and my family are all from Cardiff and on arriving here in Ceredigion, we started to look for land for a new community garden.
My background is in community arts: movement, play, multi arts approach, expression and empowerment. I also trained at the institute for Arts in Therapy and Education.
I wanted to connect with the environment and did a permaculture course in 2003 with Naturewise. Since then I have worked in campaigning and rights in the wonderful People First movement and on leaving this began further training at Coppicewood College. I now teach there part of the year and also provide Forest schooling as well as bringing this wonderful new Naturewise project into being.
